Armchair
Charles-Honoré Lannuier
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
This unusually wide scroll-back armchair is in the style of Duncan Phyfe (1768–1854) but bears a fragment of the bilingual printed label of the French-émigré cabinetmaker Charles- Honoré Lannuier. It is the only scroll-back chair among the many known New York examples that is documented to a specific shop by a label or signature.
