Side Chair

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

Typical New York features, such as the carved tassel-and-ruffle design in the splat, the gadrooned seat rail, and the square claw-and-ball feet, are displayed in this chair. It is thought to have descended in the great landholding Van Rensselaer family of Albany, New York.
