Side Chair

Hugh Finlay

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

On account of their similarities to thoroughly documented pieces, this chair, one of a pair, has been attributed to the Finlay brothers, who were born in Ireland and immigrated to Baltimore in the 1790s. They are from a sixteen-piece suite of furniture that was likely made for the Buchanan family of Baltimore.
