Dressing Table

Dressing Table

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

This dressing table was made en suite with a high chest (18.110.4) and doubtless in the same shop. Careful examination, however, suggests that the pieces were carved by different hands. The carving here, though superficially similar to that on the high chest, exhibits a greater depth and sense of liveliness.
